Estate Planning

What is involved with Estate Planning?

No two families have the same assets or the same beneficiaries. In order for estate planning to be effective, it must be customized to the needs of your family. At Ross, Quinn & Ploppert, our lawyers have the knowledge to offer customization through estate planning tools, such as:

  • Wills that determine who receives your property after your death — and more. Among other things, your will can determine when your children will receive their inheritance and who should be guardian of your children if you and your spouse both die before your children reach age 21.
  • Trusts to accomplish special goals, including revocable living trusts and retirement trusts.
  • Powers of attorney to name a trusted person to manage your affairs if you are incapacitated
  • A living will to let family members know whether you want artificial life support if you are in a terminal condition with no hope of recovery

We provide estate planning services to families in Pottstown and the surrounding Tri-County area of Pennsylvania. Contact us to talk to an experienced attorney about your needs.

The estate plan that served you when you were younger may not meet your needs today. When you are in your 20s, perhaps all the estate planning you need is a will, a power of attorney and a living will. As you accumulate more assets, you may want to have one or more trusts to protect those assets.

If your circumstances change, your estate plan needs to change as well. Suppose you remarry following a divorce and have children from your first marriage. You should be aware that if you should die before your spouse, your children could be disinherited. Through good estate planning, you can avoid future conflicts and protect your children’s inheritances.
